Busy Lamp Field or BLF is an indicator (or light) on your Velox phone that shows which extensions are available or engaged at any given time. It is very helpful for receptionists or support roles who are routing calls within your organization. The GXP1628, GXP1760W, GXP2170 and GXP2200EXT devices support the BLF feature.
For example, if the monitored extension is ringing, the BLF indicator status will be changed from solid green to blinking red; and if the monitored extension answers the call, the BLF indicator status will change from blinking red to solid red.
The following table shows the BLF indicator status in different scenarios:
Event or Activity on Extension | BLF Indicator Status (Phone) | BLF Key Status (Extension Board) |
Idle or Available | Solid Green | Solid Green |
Engaged | Solid Red | Solid Red |
Ringing | Blinking Red | Blinking Red |
The BLF indicator is only a status indicator.
The BLF indicator is configured in the multi-purpose or virtual-programmable keys (MPK or VPK). Click here on how to setup device MPK or VPK.
In order to transfer or forward calls, configure an adjacent MPK or VPK as a speed dial or blind transfer key. The direct call pick up feature that allows the use of the BLF key to answer the calls to the monitored extension is not currently supported but will be released in the near future. Keep posted.
